NEC Outstanding Alumni Award, May 2008

On May 17th, 2008 Joanna received prestigious New England Conservatory Outstanding Alumni Award “in recognition of her distinguished career and contributions to the music world.” On that occasion she presented a speech “Disciplined Virtuosity: The active and versatile career of a solo violinist” with a special performance of J. Brahms Sonata in G major with pianist Gloria Chien.

Chameleons at Goethe Institute, Spring 2oo8

On March 15th Joanna played F. Schubert String Quintet and the Boston Premiere of M. A. Dalbavie “In Advance of a broken time” as a part of Chameleon Arts Ensemble Concert Series at Goethe Institute. And on May 17th, 2008 Joanna Kurkowicz, Gloria Chien and Rafael Popper -Keizer played R. Schumann Piano Trio op.110 with a “generous dynamic range and superbly paced drama” (Boston Globe full review) as well as E. Dohnanyi Serenade Op.10 with Scott Woolweaver on viola.
