Why Metasonique?

I have always been inspired by a quote from Foster Reed, the founder of New Albion Records: “A good recording is an experience that shares the same values as a good book, a visual work of art, and a moment in a daydream—it has no literal meaning, yet it is evocative. […] It is what the mind sees when the eyes close.”

The philosophy of Metasonique is to:

…remind us of the musical treasures of the past, much like gazing at a beloved painting that you’ve admired countless times, where each glance reveals something new and exciting.

The Brahms Violin and Piano Sonatas are considered one of the most famous and popular pieces of music that have been recorded numerous times. Some may argue that producing another recording of it is unnecessary or pointless. However, as an artist, you choose a repertoire that allows you to express something unique. It could be a different approach to the sound in a spectacular acoustic, a new and distinctive phrasing or articulation that distinguishes your interpretation from others. Each interpretation brings an individual perspective and presents it in a new light. My hope is that in my Brahms Project recording, the listener will hear something remarkable, noteworthy, and memorable.
